We are all delighted that the 8,800 FREE copies of the yellow book have been distributed throughout the country. We have had some wonderful feedback and its proving to be a popular and positive resource.

38 NHS Trusts signed up to the project and received boxes of books. Distribution in Leicester and Leicestershire has taken place in Secondary Schools, Libraries, GP’s Surgeries, Prisons, Holding Cells, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, PIER Support teams, The Recovery College, NHS Hospital Wards and NHS Hospital Outpatients departments. We plan to replicate this reach nationwide.

I was asked to write a short piece for the book around the project to explain the reasons behind the work.

Dear Reader

This book has been put together with the desire and intention that it will enhance the lives of those that choose to read it. You are holding this book in your hands thanks to all the wonderful and selfless people that have supported this venture.

I have been through very challenging times with my mental health, which in turn affected my family and friends. I was admitted to hospital several times in my early 20’s before being diagnosed with bipolar. After a strong journey of recovery and the support of SISO, I was inspired to create a resource that could be available to everyone and would bring a sense of connectedness into a subject that can often be very disconnecting.

The wellbeing material developed from the SISO toolkit for this free publication is wonderful. I wanted everyone to have access to this life enhancing information. Everyone’s journey is unique and I feel that the more options that are available in challenging times the better. I live in deepest gratitude to all my family, friends and colleagues who have supported me in my role and on my journey.

In kindness
